Svetlana Slapšak received the first regional Mirko Kovač Prize for the best collection of essays

svetlpilav_prbrThe five-member jury for the Mirko Kovač Prize, comprised of Predrag Antonijević, Vlaho Bogišić (president), Enver Kazaz, Borka Pavičević and Dragan Radulović, awarded its first prize for best collection of essays to Svetlana Slapšak for the book Flying pilaf: Anthropological perspectives on food (Biblioteka XX vek, 2014). The award is given in four categories, and its first reciients were announced ahead of the commemoration of the second annual Mirko Kovač Days in Rovinj. In addition to the award for best collection of essays, awards were made for the best screenplay (to Vuk Ršumović for the film Nobody’s child, produced by Art&Popcorn from Serbia and co-produced by BaBoon from Serbia and Kinorama from Croatia), for the best book by a young author (to Dragan Markovina for the book Between red and black published by Plejada in Zagreb, 2014), and for the best novel (to Oto Horvat for the novel Szabo has stopped published by Agora in Novi Sad, 2014).

The award ceremony will be held on 3 October 2015 as a part of the programme of Mirko Kovač Days in Rovinj. Each laureate will receive an award in the amount of 5000 Euros and a certificate, and next year the award will also include a print with a portrait of Mirko Kovač.
