The French ethnologist and anthropologist Michel Agier (Orange, 1953) is professor at L’École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. His scholarly research concentrates on globalisation and migration. He has researched refugee and migration issues in fieldwork in Europe, Africa, Soth America, and the Middle East. In addition to the book translated here, Agier’s book include Managing the undesirables (2008), Corridors of exile: A worldwide web of camps (2011), Urban camps (2014), Migrants and us (2016), and The stranger who comes (2018).
